The Conservative controlled council has decided to scrap the Hayes Carnival and combine it with the Uxbridge Big Fest in October.

The Hayes Carnival has been a feature of life in Hayes for over 80 years. It provides a summer festival for the local community and local charitable causes to come together, raise funds and generally contibute to a unique community spirit. |
John McDonnell MP, said: "Hayes Carnival is the central community event for all of Hayes and has been enjoyed by local Hayes residents for over 80 years. "This is a disgraceful decision by the bunch of Conservative vandals in Uxbridge who are yet again stealing funds from Hayes to subsidise Uxbridge. |
|
"This demonstrates how little they care for Hayes and Harlington. Selling off our local stadium and closing down the carnival, they just won't stop at the asset stripping of our community." |

Cllr Anthony Way, The Leader of Hillingdon Labour Group said that this is yet another display of the arrogance of the Tory Controlled Council. "They have under-taken a sustained attack of asset stripping from Hayes and now they are even taking away our community carnival." The Labour Group and John McDonnell MP are campaiging to get this decision reversed and to have the Hayes Carnival reinstated. We have paper petitions available for people to sign as well as an on-line petition. Please sign up and show the Tory controlled council how you feel. |
The Hayes Carnival as we know it today began in 1952, however prior to that Hayes saw regular pagent events and carnival processions throughout the first half of the twentieth century. The Hayes Carnival is also a vital fund raising event for many local charities, and it enables them to raise funds as well as thier local profile. |
