Hillingdon Conservatives “fail Yiewsley residents over and over again”

Hillingdon Conservatives “fail Yiewsley residents over and over again”

Yiewsley residents deserve better than absent Conservative Councillors who do not stand up for residents, says Hillingdon Labour Leader Councillor Peter Curling.

Last week during the January Full Council meeting, Cllr Curling put forward a motion defending covenants in Hillingdon, particularly in the case of Yiewsley Recreation Ground, the covenant for which the Conservative Council is planning on revoking so that cramped flats can be built on the land.

None of the three Conservative Councillors for Yiewsley attended this meeting, but the vast majority of Conservatives that were in attendance voted against the motion to protect the Yiewsley site.

Speaking after the Council meeting, Cllr Curling said:

“For years, the Conservatives have let down Yiewsley residents. By not getting flytipping cleaned up, being absent from community meetings, and now putting party before residents by failing to stand up to the Conservative leadership on the covenant site.

“Residents are rightfully angry. They are being ignored. Yiewsley residents deserve better than this sorry excuse for an administration.”
